Trust & safety

Built on transparency, not fake trust

We would rather show fewer claims that are real than impressive numbers that are not.

Our honest approach

Lead & Trade is early-stage and being built area-by-area. We do not add fake reviews, fake contractor numbers, fake coverage claims or fake verification badges to make the marketplace look bigger than it is.

For homeowners

When you post a job, your phone number, email, full name and full address are kept private. Tradespeople first see a privacy-safe preview: the trade, job type, rough area, urgency, budget range and job detail strength.

Your full contact details are never shown in the public job preview. They are only shared after the approved contact or unlock step, and this is explained clearly before you submit.

For tradespeople

Tradespeople can preview the details that matter before unlocking: job type, area, urgency, budget, photos where allowed and job detail strength. We do not publish fake homeowner demand numbers or pretend a lead has been verified beyond the checks actually completed.

What verified means

A verified badge means the checks tied to that badge have genuinely been completed. A trade may also be unverified, pending review, documents supplied, rejected or suspended. We do not display a verified badge while checks are still incomplete.

A Lead & Trade verification badge should only appear when the relevant check has genuinely been completed. If a check has not been completed, we say so clearly.

What verified does not mean

Verification is not a guarantee of workmanship, availability, price or outcome. Homeowners should still compare written quotes, ask relevant questions and keep records before agreeing work.

How reviews work

We do not add fake reviews, imported testimonials or made-up ratings. Reviews should come from real homeowner experiences connected to real Lead & Trade jobs. Read the review policy.

If a profile has no verified Lead & Trade reviews yet, we show that clearly instead of making the profile look rated.

Lead disputes and refunds

If a tradesperson unlocks a lead that is duplicate, the wrong trade, fake, already completed or clearly inaccurate, they can request a fair review. See the lead quality policy and refund policy.

Privacy-first job posting

We ask for clear consent before sharing a privacy-safe job preview with suitable local trades. Marketing consent is separate and optional. Read how job details are shared in our data sharing guide.

How contact privacy works

Trades can see useful job details such as trade type, rough area, urgency, budget band, photos where allowed and job detail strength. Homeowner full name, phone, email and exact address are only shared according to the approved contact-sharing or unlock step.

How lead unlocking works

Trades can preview local jobs before spending credits. If they choose to unlock a lead, the platform records that unlock and shows the permitted contact details. We do not promise that every unlocked lead will become paid work.

Low-supply areas

If there are not enough matching registered trades in an area, Lead & Trade may create an internal low-supply record and prepare privacy-safe outreach to suitable local contractors. Outreach drafts must not include homeowner name, exact address, phone, email or private notes.

Complaints and restrictions

We can restrict, suspend or reject trade profiles where there is misuse, misleading information, serious complaints or verification problems. Report concerns through our complaints process.

Safety tips for homeowners

  • Get larger jobs in writing before work starts.
  • Check insurance, qualifications and certificates where relevant.
  • Avoid large upfront cash payments without a clear written agreement.
  • Keep records of quotes, invoices and messages.
  • Be cautious with pressure to decide immediately.

Fair use rules for tradespeople

  • Only unlock leads you genuinely intend to contact.
  • Do not misuse homeowner contact details or pass them around.
  • Keep quote promises clear and written where possible.
  • Use dispute tools honestly and only for genuinely poor leads.

Report a problem

If something does not look right, contact us or use our complaints process. We take misuse of the platform seriously.
