Emergency trade checklist
What to do before posting an urgent plumbing, roofing, electrical, locksmith or safety-critical job.
Deal with immediate danger first
If there is danger to life, fire, flooding near electrics, gas smell or exposed live wiring, contact the emergency services or relevant utility provider first.
Only post a trade job once the immediate safety issue is controlled or you need a qualified professional to attend.
Give trades the facts quickly
Include what happened, when it started, what you have already done, whether the issue is isolated and whether access is available now.
Understand emergency pricing
Urgent evening, weekend or same-day work can cost more. Ask about call-out fees, first-hour rates, parts and follow-up repair costs before work begins.
