Compare scope before price
A quote is only cheaper if it includes the same work. Compare labour, materials, access, waste, VAT, timing and exclusions.
Ask each trade to explain assumptions and what would count as extra work.
Price is only one risk signal
A clear, realistic quote from a responsive trade can be lower risk than a vague cheap quote.
Look at communication, proof of similar work, payment stages and whether the trade is willing to put details in writing.
