How to take useful photos for a trade quote
Simple photo tips that help trades understand access, damage, size and finish before visiting.
Take one wide photo first
A wide shot helps trades understand the full area, access and surrounding surfaces. Stand back safely and include the floor, walls, roofline or garden layout where relevant.
Add close-ups and scale
Close-ups are useful for leaks, cracks, damaged fittings, wiring points, pipework, paving and surface condition. Include a familiar object or measurement for scale if it helps.
Show access and constraints
Parking, gates, stairs, ladders, garden access, loft hatches and shared entrances can change quotes. Photos of these details reduce wasted visits and unclear assumptions.
